Hello, I’m a 21 year old male and I’ve been together with my girlfriend for about 5 months. Anyone could get exposed just by drinking someone else’s drink, eating with someone else’s utensils, shared chapstick, or by lip contact with anybody who is carrying herpes simplex virus. It is both itchy and tender, and it starts off as red and inflames, and looks like a cluster of conjoining pimples. Have also had this inside my nostril. Started feeling around and that nostril felt a little more swollen than the other, more than normal. We took her back to the vet who thought it’s the Herpes infection again. As suggested we started giving her an anti-herpes medicine (Famciclovir, 125 mg/cap a day).
An individual could attempt to cover it up the sore by using cosmetics, but that generally will make the cold sore even worse. Could it be herpes, could it be an infection? What if i just rub Abreva in those areas EVERY day???????? Doesn’t really look like a pimple. other then that she is energetic and seems healthy (eats her food, drinks her water etc). We also don’t have any yard or something, so she is always at home, not exposed to grass, sand etc. Mouly eats special Royal Canin food (written on the bag: “Kitten, Veterinary diet, growth, lysine+”).
I would like to ask: -Do you have any other ideas of what we can do to help Mouly? -What is the problem, in your opinion, Mouly might have? I dabbed a cleanex to it and seemed there was a slight little spot of oil or something came off of it. Answer Unilateral nasal discharge usually indicates either a bad tooth or a foreign object in the nose. An X-ray of the nasal cavity will show if there is an opacity in the air filled passages indicating that there is something there. It can also show an infected tooth root. If there is an infection in the nose with a fungus, they can do cytology and possibly culture of the discharge.
